American students extend helping hand to Ukrainian children amidst war, donating materials for creativity

In March 2023, a group of teenagers in Lyons, CO organized a remarkable fundraiser to support children in Ukraine. Through a lively event featuring karaoke, Ukrainian cuisine, dancing, and a silent auction, they successfully raised funds for the Simple Joys of Childhood program. The focus of this fundraiser was to gather resources for creativity and handicrafts.

Thanks to the generous donations collected, the funds were directed towards the purchase of creative materials, which were then delivered to the Teteriv Children's Boarding Home. This facility provides round-the-clock assistance and medical care to boys between the ages of 4 and 18. Additionally, there is a separate youth department for fosterlings aged 18 to 35, aimed at their medical and social rehabilitation through temporary work in workshops, farming, and other vocational areas.

The Teteriv Children's Boarding Home hosts various groups dedicated to activities such as beadwork, soap making, and wickerwork. These creative endeavors not only enhance the children's fine motor skills but also stimulate their cognitive abilities. Considering these factors, the decision was made to allocate the creativity materials to this particular orphanage.

The boys at the boarding home express their heartfelt gratitude for the incredible support received from the compassionate American schoolchildren and their friends at Nova Spark. The sensitivity, sincerity, and direct involvement of these individuals in the project have left a lasting impact on the lives of the children. Their heartfelt appreciation reflects the profound impact that such acts of kindness and solidarity can have, transcending geographical distances.
